GILLENIA

This genus of 2 species are native to drier, open woodlands of eastern North America. Members of the Rose family (Rosaceae), they are deciduous semi-woody perennial subshrubs with serrated leaves and beautiful white flowers in early summer.

The woody root system from which they regrow each spring has a wide range of uses in traditional herbal medicine.
