Below are 10 highly desirable bulbous plants that Dad either grew or were on his long list of wants!
We would love to share in our continued journey with the remarkable legacy that he left behind along with our broken hearts. It is often a really rough road with many failures but so many successes that I know he would be proud of.
He was a a truly accomplished plants man with an exceptional eye for breeding and cultivating so many of the worlds best bulbous plants. His knowledge was outstanding, learned from old books, friends and catalogues (no internet in those days) guiding a remarkable passion for the rare, difficult and often unattainable. Late nights by the tilly lamp with a magnifying glass pawing over a J & J Archibald catalogue etc..... often driving mum to despair! It is great to be knowledgeable but the first hand experience is invaluable and he had this in spades! With such dedication great things happened, with many, many rare delights shared Australia wide.
A great man, a great husband, a great father but most of all a great plants man. Sadly missed, deeply loved and greatly appreciated for a legacy not just to Mum and I but for Australian horticulture and gardeners.
A big thank you to my darling partner Kyrill for joining me on this continued journey. Like my father his knowledge, dedication and passion for plants are impeccable. Another truly great horticulturist!
