Primula is a diverse group of about 500 species all with showy flowers arising from a basal rosette of leaves. Primula species are distributed throughout the temperate Northern hemisphere and southwards to New Guinea and South America. Related to Cyclamen and Dodecatheon species of Primula grow from Alpine slopes, woodlands to boggy meadows. The genus includes annuals and perennials and many hybrids. We focus on the species from temperate woodlands which are easily grown here in suitable conditions. A most rewarding and fabulous genus for any moist woodland garden!
