Primula sieboldii is an outstanding plant for cool woodland conditions, where it will slowly spread on shallow underground rhizomes to form a beautiful ground cover. Native to Japan, Korea and into China, it is revered in its native range and beyond as a plant of outstanding beauty. In Japan it is called “Sakurasoh”, the cherry-blossom herb because the flowers emerge as the cherry blossom falls; there it has been bred for gardens since at least the 16^th century and is available in a diverse range of shapes and colours. Yubisugata has large, fragrant mauve flowers with a delicately fringed edge.
