This outstanding little gem from the South African Cape, should be prized for its remarkable presence. The slender, grass-like leaves give rise to cup shaped blooms in shades or violet through royal purple, with a striking lighter centre on stems to 15cm. Appearing in late winter to early spring, the blooms open wide in sunshine and close again as the light fades.. Best grown in well-drained soil or containers with a dry summer rest. It is a small treasure for gardeners who delight in natural elegance. The flowering sized bulbs are tiny, no more than a match head! Just delicious!
