This fascinating, variable South African species has a raceme of blooms from brown to beige turning mauve in the evening!! Yes it literally changes colour, no matter the difference in colour from daytime they all turn mauve after sundown.  It is then that the magic continues..... as a heavingly fragrance described by my daughter as "Chai Latte' is an amzing assault on the senses as it wafts through the night air. We beleive that this must bring a moth for pollination in its wild habitat. Stems to 70cm.  A very beautiful gladiolus!! Please note the 2 photos showing day and night colours.
